Atif Ali realizes his father’s dream…
Atif Ali’s father always dreamed of building a school for disadvantaged children in Pakistan. So when Atif came across Friends of The Citizens Foundation, he saw an opportunity to make this dream a reality. However, Atif wasn’t content with just sending us a contribution towards a new school. He wanted to raise enough funds to build a new school from scratch. And he had a plan... After graduating from the London School of Economics in 2006, Atif, along with some of his friends, came up with the idea of CVBoosters.com, which would firmly establish them in the business world and prove a fantastic way of raising funds for TCF. Atif told us, “It started as a CV checking service and has evolved into organising interview workshops and finance lectures at universities across London, helping students reach their potential when applying for graduate roles. We ask for a donation from students who attend and all proceeds go to TCF. Volunteers are city professionals, often colleagues from my work place. It has been hard work but immensely rewarding and incredibly fun. Credit for our achievements must though go to the CVBoosters volunteers, who have done everything from building our website to running our workshops. Without them we wouldn't be in a position to have enough funds to build a school.” The idea was an immediate success and it wasn’t long before Atif presented FTCF with a cheque to cover the cost of a new school build. But Atif didn’t stop there... “Credit Suisse, my employer, held a competition for employees who were involved with charities. We were shortlisted. We then presented our five minutes about the The Citizens Foundation and the idea of CVBoosters to five judges. They were so impressed that they awarded us with £50,000.” Atif and his team have raised £97,000 in just under two years. For us, they are truly inspirational. CV Boosters |
