About us
TCF is Pakistan’s leading education charity with a nationwide presence in 83 towns and cities across 51 districts across Pakistan, with 730 school units teaching over 102,000 underprivileged children – 46% girls – regardless of ethnicity, gender, caste or religion. TCF schools are built in deprived areas, urban slums and poor rural villages where the need is most dire and where most children would otherwise not receive an education.
Who we are
FTCF raises funds for the construction and ongoing support of TCF schools, contributing approximately 12.5% of TCF’s total budget. Funds are raised from individuals, corporates, matched giving, Trusts and events.
FTCF was incorporated and registered as a charity in 2001 (England & Wales: 1087864). Since then it has made considerable progress in meeting its objectives – both financial and in awareness. Our media coverage includes The Times, The FT, Guardian, New Statesman and the BBC.
FTCF’s accounts are audited annually and submitted to Companies House (Company number: 4075959). While our Trustees are drawn from a variety of professional and business backgrounds and are appointed on an entirely voluntary basis.
Our achievements
- FTCF’s 2009 support grants to TCF of £624,746 paid for about 12.5% of TCF’s total operating expenditure: the full running costs of about 75 TCF schools teaching about 10,000 underprivileged students.
- The 2009 build grants of £233,151 to TCF accounted for four new schools which came on-stream on 1 April 2010. This takes the total number of TCF schools built by FTCF donors since 2001 to 35.
- TCF has a network of 730 purpose built operational school units nationwide: 550 primary school units; 180 secondary school units.
- We have an enrolment of 102,000 students.
- Our schools have a balanced gender ratio: close to 50% female students.
- TCF has created more than 8,000 jobs of which 5,400 are female faculty positions.
- TCF has gained certification from PCP (Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy). TCF is amongst the highest scoring organisations certified by PCP to date.
- We have raised public awareness about the dire illiteracy problem in Pakistan
None of this would have been possible without the amazing generosity of our UK donors. Please join hands with Friends of The Citizens Foundation today and help change thousands of young lives forever.
