Manchester Event with Dr. Marie Lall

On Monday 3rd August, Friends of The Citizens Foundation hosted their first speaker event in Manchester with senior lecturer, Dr. Marie Lall from the Institute of Education.  Dr. Lall is an Associate Fellow on the Asia Programme at Chatham House and is a member of the education advisory council at TCF (Pakistan).  She has written extensively on South Asia and specifically on Education Policy, holding a Ph.D. in International Relations from the LSE and an MPhil from Cambridge.  Having recently spent time in Pakistan visiting several TCF schools, Dr. Lall authored a report on the impact of TCF on students and the wider community that she brilliantly presented for the first time to FTCF supporters in the UK.

The event was a huge success with one attendee deciding to undertake the challenging FTCF Trek to Kilimanjaro this October, with ambitions to raise enough funds to support one TCF school for a year.  As a result of this event, FTCF's work was introduced at the North West Muslim Professional’s Network dinner on Friday 23rd October 2009 and FTCF will also be beneficiaries of the MEDiCS Fundraising Dinner on Friday 11th December 2009.  This event marked the beginning of FTCF’s presence in Manchester and engagement with supporters in the North West.  Mancunians - watch this space!
